Glasgow’s very own Wine Festival is brought to you by Tom Cannavan, award-winning wine writer, broadcaster, and proud citizen of the city. Tom’s pioneering wine-pages.com is one of the world’s most popular wine sites, though you may know him best from his long-running slot on STV’s ‘The Hour’, or his broadcasts on BBC Radio Scotland.
The 2018 Festival sold-out completely, with every ticket gone months before the doors opened. The feedback from exhibitors on the quality of the Glasgow audience was amazing – and the feedback from the audience on the quality of the exhibitors was equally enthusiastic!
We love great wine, and, if you’re reading this, we’re sure you do too. At the festival you’ll discover superb new wines as you hone your own palate, whilst the exhibitors will pour and discuss their wines with you – with Tom on hand all day to share his knowledge too. The historic and beautiful Trades Hall in the city centre is the perfect venue to add to the sense of occasion!
The Festival is a day-long celebration of wine. The purchase of your ticket includes unlimited tasting samples from over 200 high quality wines being poured by winemakers and some of the UK’s top wine retailers and importers, and there’s a our Festival Café, open throughout the show. The Festival is open from 12:30pm until 5pm, with re-entry via the Festival wristband. The Festival takes place in the magnificent, historic setting of the Glasgow Trades Hall, surrounded by shopping, hotels and restaurants. A day experience you won’t want to miss out on.

One of the greatest attributes of a serviced apartment is the kitchen facilities. Ovens and microwaves allow you to cook what you want, when you want, in the comfort of your own property – a feature rarely found in hotels. Why eat out when you can serve up a delectable array of quick and healthy dishes without ever leaving your apartment? It doesn’t take a Michelin star chef to make a tasty meal; all you need are a few simple recipes to get you started.
Serviced apartments’ kitchens are perfect for all kinds of culinary endeavours. You know how holidays are for long lie-ins… Pretty difficult to have a lie-in, when the breakfast buffet finishes at 10am. In a serviced apartment, you can have breakfast in bed you can prepare whatever you fancy and you can have it any time you want. Our fully-equipped kitchens have everything you could need for preparing a light breakfast or a 3-course lunch. And don’t worry about the mess. Pop on the dish-washer and trust our Housekeeping Team to have the place looking like new again by the time you return to your apartment in the afternoon (*cleaning services are provided for guests staying longer than 1 week).
Many of our guests choose to host dinner parties in their Serviced Apartment when staying with Glasgow City Flats from overseas to visit family. It’s a great way to get the whole family involved and have a long overdue catch up with everyone. Our apartments are adequately equipped for these eventualities and if you need any extra items (extra chairs for example), feel free to get in touch and we will arrange this for you.
What’s more, most of our apartments come with a dishwasher in the kitchen meaning you don’t have to worry about the mountains of dirty dishes afterwards. Just pop everything into the dishwasher and relax knowing that you can spend some more precious time with your friends and family (and a glass of wine) in the apartment.
If you are intending on visiting family in the City, or hosting a dinner party during your stay in Glasgow, contact Glasgow City Flats to organise the most appropriate apartment for your requirements. With an array of accommodation options available for every taste and necessity, we are sure to find something suitable for you. Just let us know your every requirement and we will arrange the rest.

When it’s time to celebrate the start of summer, where better to do it than on the cobbled streets of the West End? Every year, throughout June, the population of Byres Road explodes into colour and costume and getting from one end of the street to the other is no easy feat. Why? The West End Festival of course!
For the month of June Byres Road enhances its cosmopolitan outlook and embraces all sorts of activities, fairs, theatrical and musical acts from all four corners of the globe, not to mention the highlight of the festival – the Float Parade. Streams of dancers from our global village strut their stuff down Byres Road led on by floats and massive parade vehicles celebrating our Summer and the wealth and mix of ethnicity Byres Road and our fair City has.
The West End Festival started in 1996 as a small local festival centred around Byres Road. It has since become the biggest festival in Glasgow’s cultural calendar showcasing a wide variety of events and performances in the West End of Glasgow. Last year over 400 events took place in 80 venues and the festival was placed in the top 30 festivals in Europe by The Independent newspaper. More information on the West End Festival can be found here.
