- Café Ostra - again 2 minutes from Scott House - a great place to sit outside when the sun is shining
- Cafe Mao - yes, once again just a couple of minutes from Scott House
- Gamba - for seafood
Shopping
Glasgow, they say, is the largest and best retail centre in the UK outside of London. As someone who has spent far too much there, I wouldn't dream of arguing with that. For those who need lots and lots of retail therapy, browse through this site then sharpen your credit card!
Concerts & Exhibitions
The Scottish Exhibition & Conference Centre (SECC) is just a 20 minute walk from the apartment - turn right out of the front door and head along the riverfront - can't miss it!
The Royal Concert Hall is at the junction of Buchanan Street and Sauchiehall Street.
The recently reopened City Halls is home to the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and also includes the quirky performance space, The Old Fruitmarket, used for jazz and traditional Celtic music.
For contemporary music, try King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is at 272a St Vincent Street. It is one of Glasgow's leading concert venues, renowned in Scotland as an exciting showcase for new and emerging bands and as the venue that supported some of the UK music industry's biggest names at the start of their careers.

But we reckon that a must for any visit to Glasgow is a wander around the Barras market. Keep your wits about you, mind, and don't go buying any cheap Rolex watches. See how you make out with the Glasgow accent here in the East End!
A more traditional market can be found at Glasgow Farmer's Market, Mansfield Park, Patrick, at the junction of Dumbarton Road/Hyndland Street. Held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month.
